Artland

Here in my village they have a biennial open studio weekend which is called Artland.  Not wanting to invite people into my home due to covid I converted my garage into an exhibition space for the weekend. (keeping the door open) I now have an additional useful space in which to assess my work as well as housing my car!

New prints heading to Margate.

It has been good to get back into making a new print. I have submitted these silkscreen prints to an open exhibition at Turner Contemporary in Margate. Fingers crossed!

Some of these prints were displayed at Birchington-on-Sea train station for three weeks which I was very happy about.

Moving Studio - what a performance!

Studio clearance Whitstable!
found this unpublished post and thought that I would post it as a reminder. I am so glad that upheaval is over. Now happy and working in my new studio.

New Studio news

I have been quiet for a while. Since moving from the South East to the South West of England my time has been spent renovating, doing DIY and gardening. The studio is almost completed and is just waiting for the windows. With the arrival of better weather I have started to experiment and to think about creatiing a new body of work. A silkscreen bed should arrive after the Covid 19 Virus lockdown has been lifted ..... exciting and challenging times.

Colour Space

I am half way through this exhibition. I have exhibited prints and a neon light installation using the word Red. There was not room for all the different colour way silk screens so I hope to display them again in a larger venue.
This is an Access ten exhibition and this time I have curated it. Artists Sarah Lancaster, Ruth Franklin and Matthew Swift (my invited artists) helped me with the hang. Thank goodness, as the hanging system is very fiddly; otherwise the pie Factory is a wonderful space to use. If you ever exhibit here be aware of the sunlight comming through the high windows in the front room ...

Profile

I did two pieces for this DAB show. The main piece was constructed out of two chairs of my grandmother's. One had been left to decompose in the garden for five years. The other was in the state that I inherited. The piece was titled TIME, the profile being abstract and made by thought process.
It started in the window of the gallery and was more situation related as an instalation than site specific. I liked the slope. At the end of the exhibition I set it up centrally in the gallery on the floor as originally planned.
DAB is a experimental group of artist friends who meet weekly to do just that; experiment with ideas developed from drawing. Drawing And Beyond. I have been in the group for three years.

The other piece was titled 390 bus route. It profiled the journey from Victoria to Kings cross London. With some artistic licence on choosing the bus stops.
