Stass Paraskos

Stass Paraskos started up an Art school in Cyprus which has strong links with UCA. He also taught at UCA Canterbury in the 70's. So when we heard of his sad death a couple of weeks ago it seemed a fitting thing to create a little shrine.

There are now even more tributes.

My piece got handed in last Friday. Just a little print to tie in with the main exhibition which is a collaboration with Germany.

It is roughly A3 size. (signed on the back!)

Berlin

I have just come back from a college trip to Berlin. Of cause my travelling exhibition went with me.

A couple of items have been added which has become the routine with this experiment. A lump of concrete, a hexagon tile (relic status) and a second hand book Jean Paul's Gämtliche Betlė. (the last word included a letter not on my keyboard!)

This is not a travel blog however I would recommend a visit to Lens Based Sculpture at Kunstmuseum (Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10, D-10557 Berlin) should you be visiting Berlin. Also the hamburger bahnhof — museum für gegenwart where amongst other delights you can see some wonderful Joseph Bueys drawings.

Back at Uni I have been working on my print entry for a group exhibition at Rouen. (To be posted).

Work in progress

Watch this space for changes!

Back to the studio!

It has been great to get back into the studio again. At the beginning of this term in-between writing I have been working on a tree shrine. There is a wonderful old Cyprus tree in the green in front of Uni and worthy of a shrine I thought. The shrine, finally completed is now up on the wall and the hope is that some of the students and staff will leave their votive in the box.

A not brilliant close up:

An along side I did a print.

Dissertation Done!

YES ! Two copies printed out and bound and posted through the assessment box.  9,000 plus words.

Title: How Shrines relate to Contemporary Art.

And here is a picture of the painting with shrine as it was presented for studio assessment. I feel that it is resolved finally. There is a hidden addition under the canvas flap!

Collaborative Narrative at Beach Creative

I have been lucky to have been invited to exhibit a piece of my Art in this exhibition at Beach Creative curated by Krztian Börst.

Spot the Access piece that I did on the left!

These are works by Krztian and it also gives you an idea of the venue

Ex UCA student Harry Thompkins' painting is on the right.

It is a lovely exhibition and one I am proud to be part of. Some really good work in it, all working well together. It was organised in two weeks and I was only given three days to get myself organised. It certainly doesn't look like a rushed event.
Dissertation hand-in Next week !!
