Results in!

Well  we have our results. For me it was a surprise. I did not expect to do so well in the studio unit as I felt that I have been all over the place with my work. I had worked extremely hard and had really stretched myself, but was insecure about the outcomes. I managed an A.

My essay was not so good and I think that I have to accept that this part of the degree is always going to be a struggle however long I  take over it ..... scraped a B/C

Last week I stepped into a skipe session between UCA and two French colleges. Interesting. The small screen shape on the bottom right is what they could see of us. Interactive drawing! We did an impromptu performance of Nadja's knitted sleeves. If you want to know more you will have to follow the redthreadtrail on blogspot.

Last week I put a painting into a local Art charity auction on Saturday. Spot the painting!

The Atelier Project

Our research practise 4 includes a project where we have to research and find suitable venues for our work. We can work on our own or with others and I have teamed up with Nadja and Rachel. We are all doing separate projects but are pulling them all together and documenting them through a blog. redthreadtrail.blogspot.com. You can follow our projects through our blog. I plan to do a home showing of some of my short art films along with some on Sonja's and Nadja's animation films. This will happen on 23rd February. It is the first of my exhibition projects so it is the one that I am focusing on now. Today I made a plinth for the projector. On Friday I have to make a poster.

Here is a pewter medal that I made inspired, and in honor of Malala Yousafzai and other brave young people who strive for an education that we take for granted. It is for the British Museum medal exhibition/competition. It is sandblasted on the underneath.

Settling back into the studio

We have now had our new units given to us. Another essay of 3000 words and some documentation to do on the new ateliers project. That is a project where we have to find an appropriate situation and venue for our work. I have decided to explore 'out of gallery spaces'. And try to be site specific. I think that it is the most creative direction for me to follow right now. I have a few ideas but not ready to share them!  I did Limbo last summer and think that I will leave it until after my final year to organise another exhibition. (famous last words). But I do recommend Limbo Arts.

We are now back in the studios. So I am getting settled into my space again. It is great. Still waiting for the results of the assessments!

Deadlines!

Well we started term with a bang. Essay had to be in by mid day the first day of term, and studio work had to be up by 4.00pm!!

Then banned from work in the studio while assessments were taking place........so into the print room went I.

PAINTING EXPERIMENTS

I had just finished my essay and had a canvas ready so I let rip. This is a post essay celebration!

Now you can see my problem! Before the end of this year I have to combine combine and select from all my different experiments to establish my way of working. I have been using my college experience to work on a large scale.

Seasonal Greetings

NEW EXPERIMENTS

I decided to explore imagery related to Christianity and to experiment with incorporating film. The experiments with film have been interesting but so far not successful!

This is the largest painting that I have done so far.
