NEW PRINTS

It has been a long time since I updated this. There has been a lot going on - the most important perhaps is a new studio roof that is insulated! My old tin roof meant that I was getting a lot of condensation dripping down in cold winter weather and when sunny and warm the studio was a like a furnace.

I have been busy printing a new body of work. Living not far from the sea and being a all year round swimmer I am aware of the huge quantity of plastic flotsam and jetsam in the ocean. This features in my prints more and more. I am also active organising litter picks!

A few samples below! Each print is one of a small series. Night Sea is a solo.

Artland Trail

Recently I converted my garage for a second time into an exhibition space for our local art trail.

Generally I have been very remiss about posting updates on my work. Slowly I have been exploring different subject matter relating to my local environment and current topics. This time I worked on a body of work connected to Ukraine and sold my small sunflower prints to rase funds for our local refugee hub. I have also been working on the issue of plastic waste to make prints.

Flotsam and Jetsam

I am working on a series of prints with the titles Flotsam and also Jetsam. As usual each print is an individual print as part of a group.  I also sometimes incorporate hand applied paint to some of the prints, calling them prints as a majority of the paper surface is covered with printed images and marks.

Emergence - Folkestone

The Access 10 group organised an Exhibition in Folkestone - the first one since lockdown. So nice to be exhibiting again in East Kent.  Gallery 8 is a small but really lovely space. Good window and lighting.

Artland

Here in my village they have a biennial open studio weekend which is called Artland.  Not wanting to invite people into my home due to covid I converted my garage into an exhibition space for the weekend. (keeping the door open) I now have an additional useful space in which to assess my work as well as housing my car!

New prints heading to Margate.

It has been good to get back into making a new print. I have submitted these silkscreen prints to an open exhibition at Turner Contemporary in Margate. Fingers crossed!

Some of these prints were displayed at Birchington-on-Sea train station for three weeks which I was very happy about.

Studio update

It took some time to get the silkscreen vacume bed in. Electricity is now installed and everything is up and running. Happy days!
